My Favourite Books

I just want to briefly mention some of my all time favourite books. These books have kept me company for many years and I've lost count of the number of times I've re-read them. Some to such extent that I probably know word-for-word what happens next. 

 The list is in no particular order (well apart from the first one).

  • The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien
This book was what created my obsession for fantasy. It all began here and without it my life would be less happier place.

  • Kelvin's Riddle by Daniel Hylton
Far less known that LOTR, but for me just as enjoyable. Aram the main character in the series is one of my favourite characters ever. He's everything I identify in a hero.

  • Ramayana series by Ashok K. Banker
Fantastic series that has deepened my knowledge of Hinduism. Ashok K Banker has redefined a classic story and whilst reading them I felt like I was actually transported there at times.

  • Red Pavilions Trilogy by Kim Hunter
A simple story that some would dislike but one I was enthralled by. From the first chapter I couldn't stop reading, and I spent many sleepless nights tucked under my blanket with a flashlight.

  • Quicksilver Trilogy by Stan Nicholls
This was the first item I ordered from Amazon after I was distraught at not finding the second book in my bookstore. Great trilogy that was so easy to read.

  • Sharing Knife by Lois McMaster Bujold 
One of the reasons why I enjoy romance in fantasy books is because of these books. Compelling storyline which entails endearing characters and an innocent romance.

  • Elantris by Brandon Saderson
My first Sanderson book and by far my favourite of his works. One of the best magic system I've ever read and a unique storyline that I haven't come across since.

I'm sure I've forgotten some others that should be on this list, but these are the books that have popped into my mind. I haven't put any links yet, but a quick Google search should locate them. 

 I hope you give these books a try if you haven't. I'm not expecting you to love them like I have...

 But who knows!

    Hi, I'm new to the blog. This is an interesting list, and it has definitely added some intriguing options to my future Fantasy reading. Thanks.
    Have you tried The Dark Tower books by Stephen King? They would definitely feature in my favourites list.

      Hi Jonathan, thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. I've always had The Dark Tower books in my wish-list but never got around to buying them. Maybe one day, hopefully!

    Hi. I'm new to this blog but am finding it quite interesting. On your list I have read, LOTR (of course :-), Sharing Knife, and Elantris. I have also read and enjoyed some Stan Nicholls. I will look into these others. Thanks for sharing.
